ATI 9200 RV 280 temperamental GL surfaces

Bug Description

On the Mac Mini with ATI 9200 graphics card running Ubuntu Dapper Drake Flight CD4, GL surfaces show constant flicker as it refreshes each draw.

Any tooltips that appear to overlay a GL surface will black out the surface until the user resizes the window.

Yes, certainly the tool-tip surface-blanking issue. And also moving the
window partially outside the screen causes blanking of GL window contents.
The surface is restored by resizing the pane.

I asked the Free-GLUT guys and they said, try build from the CVS, but was
unable to build it for one reason or another.

I'm using Dapper with updates. I use powerpc mac mini, with ATI 9200.
Although I recall the same issues on ATI 9250 on X86 during Hoary.

What was the rationale? Is the issue being left to the DRI and FreeGLUTers
in due course?

I filed this for a PPC mac mini machine. But given Ubuntu don't provide
builds for PPC anymore, I can't say if this is still an issue.
