Hi!
I have the same (?) problem with daper flight 6. After installation, X-Server won't start with ati driver configured. Just stops with black screen and no other terminal available.
Works with VESA driver.
Card: ATI Radeon 9600 XT on a AMD K7 System.
Had no problems (regarding graphics) with 5.10.

I have this error "(EE) fglrx(0): ===
[R200DALSetControllerConfigForRemap] === CWDDC
ControllerSetConfig failed: 6 - 0" also on x86_64 on Dapper Drake current. When I installed x86 (32-bit) version this error is not it Xorg.0.log and everything is working well. This problem is only on AMD64 (may bee on EM64T) i think. Do somebody know what this error mean? Therefore XGL do not working or caused distorted screen or Compiz exits with SIGSEGV after start. I have ATI X600 Pro.

Similar problem here - After doing Ctrl-Alt-F1 + Ctrl-Alt-F9, X always crashes, and I'm sent back to the login screen. Some relevant output:
