Something with usb ?...

I have an Acer Aspire 1694WLMi notebook.
This problem happens on Dapper Drake 6.04 Flight 4
with kernel: 2.6.15-15-386 and also 2.6.15-16-686

I succeeded in fixing the ACPI with another DSDT file
(/etc/mkinitramfs/DSDT.aml and dpkg-reconfigure linux-image-2.6.15-16-686)

I tried booting with alot of boot parameters in order to get my devices on IRQ #10 to work, but everything I tried failed. (Devices on IRQ #10 are: tg3 networking card, one of the USB devices or something and a snd_intel8x0 sound card)

I have to boot with "pci=noacpi" otherwise I have a full system freeze!

I tried booting with following options in order to fix the IRQ #10 problem:
pci=noacpi acpi=off pci=routeirq noapic nolapic pci=biosirq pci=usepirqmask irqpoll irqnodebug

But nothing helped !!

What information do you need to fix this problem ?
I attached "lspci -v" for the devices with IRQ 10
and the part of "dmesg" where the problem is happening, according to me.

I ran Debian flawlessly before (after a kernel recompile to get ACPI to work though)
so I should be able to run Ubuntu/Kubuntu right?

Please help me out here, because I miss Linux ;) !!!!
And I -REALLY- want my new desktop OS to be the Debian-based Ubuntu :)

Thanks in advance!

Little update about the USB:

1 of my 3 USB ports doesn't work,
I suspected that, because one of the ports is on IRQ #10,
but luckily for me that's the one USB port I normally don't use :)

Another update!

It seems to be ipw2200's fault (wireless network device) !!
If I 'blacklist' ipw2200 so it doesn't get loaded at startup
(by adding "blacklist ipw2200" to "/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist")
then I don't get the "IRQ #10 Disabled" error in dmesg.

When I "modprobe -v ipw2200" later,
IRQ #10 gets disabled again... (error in dmesg)

It's kinda weird, because ipw2200 itself resides on IRQ #11...
I'm going to try out some stuff with the ipw2200 driver . . .

Also: the following errors appear somewhere at the beginning of dmesg,
no matter if I disable ipw2200 or not:

Did you try any of the suggestions in dmesg? E.g.:

pci=biosirq

irqpoll

As boot options?

There a new ipw2200 driver coming, but I don't think that will fix your problem.

Hi, Ben!

It could be the driver, I have to check it out,
But anyway, I got my laptop to boot everything (except wireless) by blacklisting ipw2200

I have a cable connection which I use most of the time on linux, so it's okay for now, but I'm going to look into it...

Also, did try all possible options (I think) ... I always had that same error..
I think it's pretty weird, because ipw2200 sits on IRQ#11 and when it 'crashes' it blocks all devices on IRQ#10

Thanks anyway!
I appreciate the gesture :)

Maybe there is something wrong with your hardware or BIOS settings. This model usually works fine:

I have similar problem in Dapper 6.06LTS on laptop G-MAX N501.
After suspension or switching to console (through ctrl+alt+f1) USB mouse is laggy and sound doesn't work. When I unplugg and plugg in the mouse, it doesn't work then at all.
It is probably related to IRQ, because all USB controllers, sound codec (intel8x0) and ipw2200 are running on IRQ#10.
On Breezy was everything fine.

I think, this bug isn't kernel related problem. I've tried 2.6.17.1, and nothing has changed.

With the following boot parameters helped:
acpi=noirq,pci=route-irq,noirqbalance,biosirq
But new problem has appeared then — network connection (via ethernet) doesn't work after suspension.

Well, I think, there's something bad in acpi-support…

Sorry for my english.

I suspect this is a BIOS bug in the particular version of this motherboard. Please see if there is an updated BIOS, or check here:

http://acpi.sourceforge.net/dsdt/view.php?manufacturer=ACER&name=Aspire+1694WLMi

for a possible DSDT that fixes (or works around) the problem.

I was already using a fixed DSDT. I used the same DSDT that I used
flawlessly in SUSE, Archlinux and Debian. But my laptop is broken, so I will
check when I get my laptop repaired again. I'll let you know what happens.
