Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

When exporting a document as pdf, the ending .pdf is automatically attached to the filename and if a file with that name already exists, it is overwritten, but there is no warning. If the filename is given explicitly with the ending .pdf, then there is a warning that a file will be overwritten.

Reproduce:
- Export a document as pdf. Choose the name "foobar"
- The file will be saved as "foobar.pdf"
- Change the file and export it again, choose "foobar" as name
- The new pdf will also have the filename "foobar.pdf" and thus overwrite the old file without warning

Greetings Stephan

Do you still have this problem with the new version of OOo in the ppa at https://launchpad.net/~openoffice-pkgs/+archive ?

Yes the problem still occurs with the new version. Of course only as long as the box for automatic file extension is ticked.

Which box would that be? I don't see one on my system, can you tell me exactly where you see it and/or include a screenshot of it?

Here we go. I hope you don't mind the german text.

Actually the whole problem also occurs when saving as odt. Might be the fault of the KDE3 dialog to choose the file.

Thanks for the screenshot, I'll have to investigate this further on Kubuntu.

Unfortunately my patch broke the build so I had to revert it. It looks fairly easy to fix for someone familiar with KDE so hopefully it can be fixed in time for the release.
