Bug Description

Using ubuntu 9.04 Alpha5
Using avant-window-navigator from repository, version 0.3.2.

What ever I do, the option 'don't cover the bar' doesn't work.

Step to reproduce :
1. Open a user session
2. Install avant-window-navigator
3. go in awn-manager
4. Check the option 'don't cover the bar'
5. Restart computer
6. Reopen the user session
7. Maximize any window
8. The window cover the bar.

Expected behavior :
1. The bar should not be cover by the window when maximize.
2. Note : In Hardy, a restart is not even required

Thanks for your bug report.

I can confirm it only on Jaunty with metacity. Very weird.
Could you add the window manager you are using ?

Sorry if I didn't mention the windows manger I use in the first post.

I'm using Metacity with compositing manager enabled and Compiz disable.

P.S.: I never use Compiz because it's use to mush resources and slow down my computer. :)

Thanks

It will be interesting to test the behavior with compiz, to see if it's related to the window manager.

Running AWN trunk build from source on Jaunty with GNOME and Compiz, this feature works as expected for me. Using Metacity compositing, it does not work. So this definitely seems to be related to the window manager.

Thanks Andrew for the testing. I suspect metacity is missing something on Jaunty.

Confirmed that is a metacity bug. I prepare a patch for it with the upstream informations.

The debdiff attached include the patch from upstream to fix this problem.
Upstream informed me that this patch will not be part of the 2.26 release.
Testing packages are available in my PPA.

Marking as Won't Fix, as the fix is in Metacity, even though Awn is affected by it (according to the upstream bug, GNOME Panel is also affected).
