Can't switch to transparent themes

Bug Description

Switching to transparent themes for console doesn't work. The dark transparent theme is black, and the clear one shows a grey background.

However, if a transparent theme is set by default for Konsole, it works when Konsole is launched, but gets back to black/grey when selecting another transparent theme in the configuration menu.

What version of ubuntu are you running?

I'm not seeing this bug with kubuntu dapper amd64, latest updates.

I am having the same error. I cannot switch to transparent themes in the konsole. when I configure konsole I can choose transparency and the preview get transparent, but after saving, nothing changes. this is on dapper flight6.

If I go to settings>configure and change the schema, it doesn't get saved. This happens with any schema, not just transparency. However, right clicking on the konsole and choosing a schema works fine. (That's what I tried before when I said I wasn't seeing the bug.) Is this the same for you?

yes, it is the same for me. I can choose any schema I want.
And I can configure any schema any way I like. It is even reminding me to save when I exit, but it never saves the changes.
Maybe it is a problem with a file permission?

o.k., it does nor seem to be a file permission problem. I logged in as root and I still cannot save the changed schemas.

It seems to work, but only on one tab when konsole is open. This is what I've tried and the results I get (hoping someone can confirm this) :

1) Open Konsole, go to Preferences and set the default model to light transparent. Transparency does not work.
2) Close Konsole and open it again. Transparency works on the newly open session.
3) Create a new tab. Transparency does not work on this new tab, but still work on the first one.
4) Go back to the first tab, and try to change the model to another one, then back to light transparent. Transparency does not work anymore...

From this, it seems transparency is set properly when Konsole is opened, but not when new tabs are created or the model changed in a tab.

Kai : your description doesn't fit the bug I have.

The bug I describe here seems to only happen on Dapper Flight 5 installations.

People with Dapper Flight 6 installations or before DF5 don't have this problem.

I can confirm what Raphaël Pinson says on a AMD64 Dapper Flight 5 install, upgraded to the latest stuff.

if so then IMO the bug is resolved.

Yes I'd say so. At least I can confirm it works with beta live CD. I'll mark as fixed.

Still would be nice to find a workaround for those who don't do fresh installs.

Hello,
i made a fresh install of final release of KUbuntu 6.06. After that, i upgraded KDE to 3.5.3 and the system is up to date.
The problem of transparency in Konsole is still present. When i uset the dark scheme, the background remains black and grey with the light transparent scheme.
