Bug Description

When the gpa package (Gnu Privacy Assistant) is installed and afterwards started, a dialog first pop
up asking for the following selection:

"Generate key now" or "Do it later"

pressing either button results in no action. This happens every time the application is started.

Without a fix this application cannot be used, as the application only can be closed by the force to quit function.

I can't reproduce this bug on dapper, gpa starts without dialog box.
Holger, which version of gpa/ubuntu are you using?

Maybe the dialog only comes if no secret key is available...

Hi Gauvain,
your assumption is absolute correct. The Dialogue window pop up only
when
no key is available, before anything was generated, and ask what you
want to do.
I have so far no keys on my system and installed this package for the
first time.
The package version of gpa is 0.7.0-1ubuntu1 on drapper flight 5 with
all the updates applied, as they so far were available.

Thanks

Holger

I've tried to reproduce this bug by moving my .gnupg folder. The dialog pops and works fine.
The version of gpa is still 0.7.0-1ubuntu1.
Holger, can you still reproduce the bug?

(running gpa on x86)

Hi Gauvain, after following your e-mail I now figured out what caused
the problem. I am not sure if this
is a bug or a somehow just a wrong configuration from the past. After
also moving my .gnupg folder to a different
folder the dialogue now worked and created the .gnupg folder new. So it
looks like either a wrong key or Configuration
file in this folder blocked this dialogue from functioning before. The
access rights seems to be OK. I have also
Seahorse installed, as I installed it first and afterwards the GPA
package. Maybe that caused the problem.
Hope it helps.

Thanks

Holger

I'm having the same problem on Ubuntu Dapper Drake! I installed gpa and when I click on the dialog nothing works. This should be immediately fixed! I can reproduce this.

BUT then I removed the the .gnupg folder and it works. But it is still an annoying bug!

And when I want to create a copy of the key (sec_key.asc) and then I want to choose a folder (by clicking on search) gpa quits.

I can reproduce this bug. But I cannot reproduce your solution by removing the .gnupg folder.
I'm using Ubuntu 6.10 and gpa 0.7.0-1ubuntu1. Still having the problem with the dialog box.

Could you please fix this bug? Thank you.

Hi. Is this bug still a problem for those who reported it? Intrepid now includes gpa-0.7.6 which may also fix the bug you have. If this is resolved, please let us know so we can close this report. Thanks for reporting the bug.
