Bug Description

In my kubuntu-ppc breezy, both with kde 3.4 and 3.5, when typing in an URL in konqueror whatever is typed is immediately erased. One has to start over!
This behavior happens when opening a new tab with control+t and then immediately starting to type (the text goes into the address field). Somehow the "Refreshing" of the URL field may be erasing its contents, which was blank already. VERY ANNOYING. I end up with half-written urls, which I have to delete ( or some wild "http://www.ww.google.com" suggestion is given) and then retype.

I've seen this happen but I can't reproduce it all the time. The likeliness of that happening on my computer seems proportional to the working load.

I see this behavior with no other app open other than konqueror. I mean at least in a powerbook 1GHz the issue is NOT working load -dependent.

I confirm.
1GB RAM & 1.8 Ghz - no other apps, and it happens.
One have to start typeing very fast - and the first few letters disappear.
It seams that after hitting "Ctrl+T" konqueror does:
A. show the new tab
B. clear the URL field

instead of
B. clear the URL field
A. show the new tab

Of course it's far more complex as that :)

This bug is still present in Dapper 6.06 as of 20060525. And annoying just the same.

marking as fixed, if fixed in edgy/feisty.

Sounds like it's been fixed in a later version of kde (which versions are on kubuntu.org for dapper users)
