Bug Description

Similar to https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/totem/+bug/29989 already filed about gnome-screensaver.

If I understood the mail on the -devel list correctly, the devs want bug reports for each application that does not deactivate gnome-screensaver, xscreensaver, or kscreensaver as needed, so this is not a duplicate.

kscreensaver starts at its set time if the mouse and keyboard are inactive while watching a movie in totem. This happens in both fullscreen and normal window view.

Running kubuntu dapper amd64 with latest updates.

Reassigning to kubuntu, feel free to submit a patch if that's really required

Why the reassign to Kubuntu?
It doesn't do it in Gnome either (gnome-screensaver, xscreensaver)... It's gone so bad that I start a movie in VLC and pause it just to stop the screensaver and then continue to watch the original movie in totem.

The code should be there from ages ago but what?

Reassign to Ubuntu again I say.

Mårten, your problem is probably a different one, the screensaver is known to be broken at the moment on feisty and that's fixed upstream: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=380675

do you still have the problem on feisty, a Build-Depends was lacking which made that the package was not built with "XTest (legacy screensaver) support enabled", that's fixed now

Sorry, I haven't used totem in while and haven't gotten around to testing this.
I still get the screensaver when playing a movie in totem not in fullscreen. Using Feisty up to date as of 3/25.

Hi there
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with the development version of Ubuntu, Hardy Heron?

Thanks in advance.

I got the same problem on a 8.04 Kubuntu with all the latest updates.
If I use kaffeine it works alright but with the totem-xine player the screen saver starts.
