mispositionned focus in unlocking screensaver dialog box

Bug Description

when opening the dialog box, focus is not within the text area. I have to click with the mouse to put it inside the dialog box.

I can confirm the mentioned behaviour. Furthermore, if you type any alphanumeric key, it is used as first letter of the password. The gnome-screensaver is consistent in this way and the question is, if this is desired beahviour or not. In my opinion it would be more convinient to show the password dialog at first and allow typing only after showing it.

at least on edgy the focus is in the passwd-box.

the typing-thing has a bug-report of it's own:

and I agree with the reporter, that the correct way is to grab all keypresses before the dialog is shown.

On Dapper I found that I had gotten in the bad habit of using the down arrow key to wake the computer. This had the effect of moving the focus out of the text box. If I used shift or started typing the password it worked fine.

I notice on edgy that the arrow key doesn't change the focus until the window is displayed.

I confirm last comment. The problem happens when use of arrow key to wake up computer.
This problems no longer exist in Edgy
