Bug Description

Binary package hint: acpi-support

I have associated lid close with blank screen (power mgmt prefs) and set my screen saver to lock the session (screen saver prefs).

Still, closing the lid does not lock the session.

This is a regression from Intrepid (can't say about Jaunty, sorry).

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and help to improve Ubuntu.

The acpi-support package is not involved with the screen locking policy; this would seem to be a screensaver issue. You don't mention whether you're using Ubuntu or another variant, so assuming gnome-screensaver.

However, I'm not able to reproduce this problem here; closing the lid on my laptop correctly locks the screen. In your case, does the screensaver activate without locking the screen, or does the screensaver not activate at all?

Please post the output of the following commands:
$ gconftool-2 -R /apps/gnome-power-manager/lock
$ gconftool-2 -R /apps/gnome-screensaver

Thanks for the output. One difference to my system is this:

 blank_screen = false

On my system this is set to blank_screen = true. Does changing this setting have any effect on the behavior?

Also, I don't know if you missed my earlier question: when you close the lid, does the screensaver activate at all?

Before setting blank_screen to true, the screen was just blanked but did not activate the screenblanker I selected in the screensaver prefs.

If I set blank_screen to true the session locks. However, it still does not activate the screensaver I selected in the screensaver prefs (it just fades out instead).

Can you still reproduce this issue with Ubuntu Maverick (10.10)?
