Bug Description

I'm using totem-gstreamer to play my videos and the ones with AC3 sound play really soft, up to the point that I can't even understand what people are saying.

Some people there seem to have the same problem with xine, so I'm filing the bug there as well.

This is a libxine1 problem, and possibly a configuration issue. However, I have no idea whether it's how libxine1 is configured (via gxine's preferences window) or whether it's a hardware problem...

I don't think it's a hardware problem: It's present in both of my computers, and more people have the same problem.

I don't have gxine installed, maybe it needs a configuration tool? Maybe it needs to recognise the kind of speakers connected? Don't know.

I did get this problem on Edgy and also on Gentoo with Totem and Gstreamer.

Upstream report which had the patch fixed it: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=348002
