This is actually crashing when you log out, but you get the crash report on the next session. I can see whats happening here and will submit a patch for this upstream. Just out of interest, what applications do you still have open when you end your session?

Normally it's synergy, screen, urxvtd that are still running.
(I konw the question wasn't really directed at me)

I see this with Screen running too. I normally have loads of programs (I'm a lazy shutdown man)

Lotus Sametime
Lotus Notes
Gnome-terminal
Pidgin
Adobe Air
Java

Does the crash stop happening if you disable synergy? It's the only one of those that links against libsm, so my guess would be that one which triggers it

I use synergy daily for work and start it with gnome session automatically.
I'm gonna try and disable synergy to test further.
Is there a possability to invoke a kill command somewhere when shutdown or reboot commands are issued so synergy would not "lock" and crash.

I've just uploaded a version of gnome-session to my PPA which should fix this crash. What should happen now is that you should see the inhibit dialog telling you that an application is not responding.

Please test it and let me know what happens, and then I will send the patch upstream.

My PPA is at https://edge.launchpad.net/~chrisccoulson/+archive/ppa

Thanks
