Intermittent Network Problem on Upgrade from Breezy to Dapper

Bug Description

Recently upgraded to Dapper and I seem to be having some network issues. Connectivity was working solidly under Breezy for over a year. On bootup there's no connectivity. Ping results in 100% packet loss to my router (192.168.0.1): "Destination Host Unreachable". If I unplug and re-plugin the network cable connectivity is restored for about a minute or so and then it fails. I've tried this using two separate sets of cables - both of which are known good - and the results are the same (problems).

uname -a:

Linux malcom 2.6.15-20-386 #1 PREEMPT Tue Apr 4 17:48:51 UTC 2006 i686 GNU/Linux

NIC is coming up as: 21x4x DEC-Tulip compatible 10/100 Ethernet (Davicom Semiconductor, Inc.)

This will be a kernel problem -- provided the network is UP with an IP address, it isn't an ifupdown or dhclient bug.

FYI: this problem is happening in 2.6.15-21-386 as well.

I am also getting this issue. I reinstalled ubuntu hoary (since I had that cd) and then upgraded the distribution to breezy. I had network connectivity (DHCP and Static) under hoary, but after the upgrade, cannot get out. I try to ping the gateway and it gives me "Destination Host Unreachable". I have tried ifup/ifdown, checked ifconfig, dhclient, etc. but nothing seems to be working. I can only assume that it is this bug. Please let me know what information you might need from my install to help with this bug.

Regards,
Doug

I ungraded from 5.10 to 6.06 LE, using a netgear wg511 wireless card. Upgrade renamed by interface from eth2 to eth 3and erased my wep security settings.

I enabled the eth3 interface and reentered my wep security info, and the card connects to my wireless network, but ia am not able to access the internet. When I configure network settings in admin mode, I see correct values for my domain name servers, but no default gateway. When I try to update the gateway, I enter the IP address and click on apply. When I reopen network settings, the gateway has no value and I still have no connectivity.
