soundconverter silently fails without appropriate plugin

Bug Description

For example if you want to convert from m4a, you'll need the faad plugin for gstreamer or else soundconverter will start converting and finish after some seconds without any error message that it couldn't convert due to missing plugin.

Confirmed. Converting to mp3 does nothing without the plugin, but no error message is displayed.

There is an upstream bug about this at http://developer.berlios.de/bugs/?func=detailbug&bug_id=5914&group_id=3213, but Malone doesn't support the berliOS tracker, so I can't link it to the upstream task.

I tried to convert an mp3 to ogg but it "silently failed". Perhaps the gstreamer-plugins-ugly package should be recommended by soundcounverter since mp3 to ogg is the default setting.
