Bug Description

After working with a folder on an SMB share, and then returning to a local folder, I get a dialog box:

You must log in to access (my ubuntu machine's IP)
Username:
Domain:
Password:

[] remember
[] save password

The dialog is unresponsive, and I can't switch to any other applications. Only the mouse pointer can be moved.

maybe the same as Bug #5696

I am not sure this is a duplicate of bug #5696, as that doesn't mention the type of password being asked, and this one doesn't involve the panel.

Thanks for your bug. What version of Ubuntu do you use. How do you return to the local folder? Is that specific to samba usage or happens with ftp by example too? Do you just have to open a distant place and close it to get the issue?

Ubuntu 5.10.

I have just had this dialog but without the freeze. All I was doing was rearranging folder windows, some of which were local and some on the SMB share.

Do you still have the problem with Dapper or Edgy?

I can't check this as I'm not able to connect at all to SMB with Dapper.

What does happen with you try to connect to smb? Do you have libgnomevfs2-extra installed?

As per another bug I've reported (sorry, don't have the number), I get a Nautilus window titled "Windows Network: 192.168.0.2 on 192.168.0.2" with no contents. There is no indication of what I have done wrong in the Connect dialog, and 192.168.0.2 is now listed as a mounted server even though it doesn't exist.

Going to Places->Network and browsing to Windows Network then my powerbook (which is shown) also gets me an empty window.
