Bug Description

Binary package hint: grub

After the latest updates grub doesnt countdown from 2 to 0 and then boot. Forcing it to boot the first kernel by pressing escape and select kernel to boot (first one in the list).

What i tried so far;
- set timeout to 5 and sudo update-grub, then reboot. Same problem as with 3 seconds only displays the number 5.
- comment op hiddenmenu, first kernel is highlighted but doesnt boot automagicaly.

/boot/grub/menu.lst is attached to this report. If I can be of any help please let me know.

Seems to have been a problem with my new notebook after all.
After not using it for a couple of days it kept reporting about the system clock during startup and wouldnt boot at all.
I cleared the bios by disconnecting the battery as stated in the laptop
manual.
Now countdown works fine again.

I have had a grub timeout issue ever since I got Edgy (have not tried Feisty, but it uses the same grub ver) -- grub timeout occurs randomly and appears to be some sort of race condition, for example having a CD in the drive will slow down the BIOS enough to change whether the timeout begins countdown. Grub 0.97
