Bug Description

This issue is more or less identical to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/321605. The main difference is my laptop being a HP Pavilion dv5-1214eo.

In short: Unless "options snd-hda-intel model=hp-dv5" is added to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf (+ system restarted), the speakers are broken and produce no sound at all. With the line, the speakers work.

I'm filing this issue as a new bug per Daniel T Chen's instructions in the above mentioned bug report.
