Bug Description

Binary package hint: xscreensaver

This bug happens when screensaver is starting - automatically or in preview - System->Preferences->Screensaver

System doesn't respond on any keyboard or mouse actions (I also cannot switch to console mode with Ctrl-Alt-F1...). I can only restart.

It happens when selecting Anemone or Antinspect screensavers - I don't want to try other screensavers because I don't want to restart each time.

I removed xscreensaver and I got only gnome screensaver. So, please fix it or remove this package as outdated.

Thank you for your bug report.

Hmm. This sounds like a kernel bug (a user program like xscreensaver shouldn't be able to lock up the keyboard and stop caps lock working).

Marcin:

Does running a screensaver like /usr/lib/xscreensaver/glmatrix also cause a lockup? Could you also attach (using the Add Attachment link at the left of the launchpad website) your
/etc/X11/xorg.conf
file?

Could also add the output of
uname -a

uname -a output:

And about this glmatrix saver I will take a look soon, few hours - now I need to work and don't want to reboot.

I also have this problem with gnome screensaver. however, screensaver works just fine when logged in as root, so it must be some sort of permission somewhere.

the original reporters issue sounds like a duplicate of https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-ati/+bug/38181 ?

Marcin, do you still have this problem with a recent version of Ubuntu (7.04 or Gutsy)? Please attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log.

Trollord, bug 67487 has been fixed a long time ago, and is only about AGP cards.
