Bug Description
Binary package hint: yelp
Type: Documentation - network troubleshooting procedures
Release: Ubuntu 9.04 - the Jaunty Jackalope - released in April 2009
Today's Date: 10/18/2009
Issue: On a new/first install wireless permissions are off for the initial user. I followed instructions for wireless troubleshooting which did not resolve the issue. (Web help led to installing a wireless driver package.) After giving up and adding users, I found out that adding wireless connections are blocked by default.
Expected: The help documentation for wireless procedures (and/or troubleshooting procedures) need information about having permission to add wireless networks.
Possible text addition:
You will need (may not have) permissions to access the wireless network.
Open 'System' - 'Administration' - 'Users and Groups' and select your user name.
Open your user, then select the 'User Privileges' tab.
Make sure that the 'Connect to wireless and ethernet network' permission is checked
