ISO8859-15 fonts are very small

Bug Description

-misc-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-15 only matches 2 fonts:

$ xlsfonts | grep '^.misc.*8859-15$'
-misc-fixed-medium-r-normal--0-0-75-75-c-0-iso8859-15
-misc-fixed-medium-r-normal--6-60-75-75-c-40-iso8859-15

and they are both very small (4x6 and 6x12).

This shows up in GNU Emacs when looking at accented characters having set the frame's font to "9x15" for example:

Notice the 'e' and the 'o' on the first line are far too small.

I can confirm this bug and would like to add that I face problems also with the other encodings of the misc-fixed font. It seems that only the ascii fontset remains unaffected.

I'd greatly appreciate any hint/advice how to work around this bug, since I use EMACS in a multilanguage environment for nearly every possible text-oriented task and this problem is very annoying, especially when dealing with non-ascii and multilingual files. Switching to a larger font-size doesn't fix the problem, since the non-ascii characters still remain (at least) half the size of the other characters.

It's noteworthy that under Debian I had the same problem, but it was easily cured by putting "(set-default-font "7x14")" in .emacs -- a solution that doesn't work with Dapper, unfortunalely.

The affected package is perhaps xfonts-base.

Here is a combined screenshot, showing how the various iso8859-* charsets are displayed in EMACS (with set-default-fontset "9x15" in ~/.emacs).

And this is the expected result for iso8859-2 as displayed in EMACS on a PC running an up-to-date Debian Sarge.
