Bug Description

Distro: Ubuntu Karmic
Docky ver: docky-2.0~bzr594
Gnome Ver: Gnome 2.28.1
Display controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS/GME, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller
X version: 1:7.4+3ubuntu9 (or just 7.4??)

I opened up an Openoffice writer template, then opened up a separate document from elsewhere on my computer. My 2 Openoffice Writer windows are represented by 2 Openoffice icons on the dock (both with 2 dots beneath). Aren't multiple Openoffice writer windows supposed to bring up only one icon on the dock?

Inkhorn

TEST CASE:
1. Create 2 oowriter documents and save them
2. Open both documents

VERIFICATION DONE:
- Only 1 openoffice icon is displayed on docky

Not sure what's happening here. I can't reproduce that. Take a look at the picture I have (running from latest trunk). One OO icon, 2 documents.

It seems to happen like this:

I open up an .doc file in openoffice
Double click on some other .doc file on my desktop
Then I get the second openoffice icon.

I've attached a partial screenshot of Docky on my screen.

Interesting. I followed your instructions twice and still docky behaves normally (only 1 oo icon). Then I realized I was running my own branch where I've fixed lots of stuff with the window manager. I was able to reproduce this bug in docky trunk, but I seemed to have fixed it in my branch here: lp:~cszikszoy/docky/matchwineapps

i've got the same issue, but mine happens when opening multiple documents from their icons in nautilus. and it stacks, pretty much infinitely sometimes. i've had 6 documents open, then i close 3, and there are still 6 icons, each with double dots under.

I also can't properly pin openoffice to the dock.

unfortunately, i can't get it to do it right now. ill post a screenshot if its needed, let me know.

I do have this problem.

If I have 4 OpenOffice documents open, for example Spreadsheets, Docky will show 4 OpenOffice icons in the dock. All 4 of those will stay open even I close 3 of the 4. I have to close all OpenOffice documents before the icons will completely clear.

Restarting docky corrects it, though. dependably so for me, but it's probably our best work-around until a fix is commited! It's easy! just quit docky and open it in do :D

This bug is *very* weird. I about drove myself nuts trying to fix it one day so I've avoided it since then. :-p

As someone who uses Docky and OpenOffice regularly, this is a noitceably ugly bug. I can keep clicking on a button on my gnome-panel that links to a script I made to restart docky, but it gets silly when I have to keep restarting docky every time I open up a new window in calc or writer.

This problem seems to have cleared up for me. Was a fix committed, or did it just work itself out?

I have the latest Docky but for two spreadsheets documents, I have 7 icons. Of course I had opened two more spreadsheets but then I closed them. Icons stayed. Still icons shouldn't have been more than 4... they are 7.

I use the same two OOo Calc files all the time.

If I open both I will have 2 separate Docky Icons. If I close one of the files I will have still have 2 icons.

The problem CAN be much worse.

My GF was home-working on my system yesterday. She had about 20 different spreadsheets for different customers that she was opening from Nautilus. When I got home Docky was frozen. She would open one, work on it, close it and move to the next. The number of OOc Calc icons on Docky got so large that Docky froze and had to be killed from the System Monitor.
This is repeatable.
I'm on Karmic and OOo 3.1 but had this problem on Intrepid & OOo 3.0 also (skipped Jaunty).

I'm experiencing this problem as well. I'm running Docky 2.1.0 and OOo 3.2.0 on Lucid (2.6.32-19) and each open OOo document creates a new Docky icon.

When I have multiple OOo documents open and then close one, the OOo icon remains. If I have 10 documents open and then close 9 of them, I will still have 10 OOo icons. If I then open 10 more OOo documents, I will have 20 OOo icons.

The only way to make the OOo icons disappear is to close ALL of the OOo documents or to restart Docky.

I confirm that this affects me, too, on Lucid (2.6.32-21) with Docky 2.1.0 from your PPA. Screenshot attached.

This still happens occasionally in Ubuntu 10.10 with Docky 2.0.7 and OpenOffice.org 3.2.1, although after leaving it open for a few minutes, the problem rectifies itself. Weird behavior.
