Incorrect filename on right-click/download initiated by php script on kde-apps/kde-look.org

Bug #50167 reported by Brian Ealdwine

Konqueror

Bug Description

To reproduce:
 Go to kde-look.org and/or kde-apps.org
Go to one of the projects with a download link, perhaps http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=39834
Below 'Description' and 'Changelog' is an 'Ubuntu Download' link.
Right-click on link, and click 'Save Link As...'

Window pops up with "download.php" as the default filename (apparently based on the link and not the ultimate target).

Compare with clicking on the link directly and downloading the file, which is opened with the appropriate filename (In Kate as a text file, apparently due to the site's mis-mimetyping of the download as a text download-- confusion from php script? see [rejected] bug# 50043).

This is expected behaviour as the web browser can't know in advance the filename the webserver is about to tell it to call the file as konq doesn't even know at this stage its about to receive a file, its just another link

Changed in kubuntu-meta:
status: Unconfirmed → Rejected

How unfortunate.. ..it makes it a lot easier to download a file that is accurately named (as it does in MSIE and in Mozilla).

You are trying to save the file before the server has sent the file data including the file name. Sorry this is a limitation of dynamically served content.

No, *I* am not trying to save the file before the server has sent the filedata (including filename), *Konqueror* is trying to. As previously mentioned: This feature works fine in MSIE, and works fine in Netscape/Mozilla. It's 'simply' an issue of beginning the download before the save dialog appears. The user has already specified that they want to download the file, there's no need to wait until they've selected a filename (Unless there's a technical limitation in Konq).

Greetz! I can confirm, I have the same bug with Firefox 2.0.0.4 (actually I had this problem always with earlier versions of Firefox) under Feisty.
Every time I try to save a picture (wallpaper) from "GNOME-look.org" a become this message (see screenshot). Firefox tries to save .png image as "download.php".
Opera browser can handle this w/o problem.
I hope it helps further
