GDM Hangs after Plymouth startup

please install plymouth 0.8.0~-10ubuntu1 and libplymouth2 0.8.0~-10ubuntu1 (just uploaded - will be available from the archive in about an hour), and run 'apport-collect -p plymouth 522974'.

The new package helps - I get the GDM screen, it is initially hung then there is a flash (like a console switch) and then I am returned to the GDM screen. Once this happens I can log in normally.

Unfortunately I was not able to complete the apport-collect step due to bug #516381 which prevents apport-collect from uploading its data.

This bug sounds like it may be a dup of bug 519641.

Unmarking as a duplicate. Insufficient information to conclude it's the same bug.

      the graphics mode of the wrong VT or put the wrong VT into VT_PROCESS

    - Don't attempt VT switch when using non-VT consoles.
    - Make VT mandatory for renderer plugins, so we fallback gracefully to

    - Activate VT from text and details plugins, rather than haphardly in
      the main code, this means the textual boot is also on VT7.
