Bug Description

I am trying to read a USB stick memory storage that was being used yesterday (it was read and written correctly) using Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala but it is not read. I can read correctly this USB in another PC, also I can read and write in the Ubuntu PC another similar USB stick. The only thing seen is that the light in the USB noot read is flashing once every two seconds. This USB stick does not appears in the desktop, nor in the "Lugares" (Places), cannot be listed in a Terminal with ls.
Saludos.
Celso Montalvo.

Friends,

I used a USB Hub (Port multiplicator to 4 ports) and trying each of its ports the USB was read using at the third intent. Tried to unmount and mount again and it worked. I tried other port in the PC, different to the USB Hub and it also worked. What is the explanation?

Continuing with the problem: USB does not read.

My laptop has 3 USB ports. Earlier (yesterday and before) this USB stick was normally read in any of the USB ports. Last night I tested a new a USB Hub which gave 4 additional ports to the PC. I tested the USB Hub with the USB memory stick (a Kingston 512 MB USB memory). Today the USB memory is not read unless I connect the USB Hub specifically to one of the laptop ports and I put the USB memory on the hub. This is a nuisance as the USB Hub is a tool for ocasions when I need to connect more than three USB devices (the Ubuntu USB drive, the mouse and two USB memory sticks), now I would be forced to use the hub even if there are other spare USB ports... I used the command sudo fadisk -l but the Kingston is not listed unless connected through the USB hub.

Is there anybody with enough knowledge to help me solve this problem?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Dear Shrini,

I received your message with a single line, but I do not understand the
meaning. What is libusb and what should I do about it? I still cannot read
my USB stick in my PC with Ubuntu, but I can read it in Windows 7 in the
same PC or in OpenSUSE in another PC.

Thank you for your interest.

Attached is the file obtained using the command demsg > demsg2.log. This was used after using the 4-port hub with the USB stick connected. The stick is recognized when connected through this hub, but the hub is not mine and I need the stick to be read through the other standard notebook usb ports.

Celsom, did you create a new bug with "ubuntu-bug"? If so, please mark this bug as a duplicate of the new one.

No. It was a lot of time ago. There was no solution and I moved elsewhere.
Now I am with version 10.04 under Windows VMWare Virtual Machine.
