Bug Description

Binary package hint: ark

Ark crashes sometimes after the extraction of .zip files. The files are extracted correctly as far as I could observe, but after that it closes with the crash message window.

I noticed it crashes (almost) everytime after the extraction of zip files and sometimes with .tar.gz or .tar.bz2. I'm using Kubuntu 6.06 Dapper with all the updates. I get an error, something like "no debugging info available". I use to right click the archive then "Extract here".

I installed a the package "gdb" so no at the section "Backtrace" appears some information. I obtained this after I extracted a .tar.gz file:

If this is still a problem with a fully updated kubuntu can you please provide what version of ark what version of kdebase you are using. You can check with apt-cache policy kdebase also apt-cache policy ark. If this is no longer an issue please let us know.

I can't provide these informations right now since I'm not on the Kubuntu machine, however I remember that it was a fully updated Kubuntu 6.06 with the Ark version from the official repositories at the moment I reported the bug. No backports to KDE or other newer packages, just the Ubuntu repositories, updated with "sudo apt-get update" and "sudo apt-get upgrade".
