Helper tooltips remain open even after clicking button

Bug Description
For example, hover over the button to step forward in time and wait for a tooltip to popup, then click the button. Ideally, the tooltip should then dissapear, however, currently it remains visible.

Tooltips will now hide either when the mouse leaves the target, or after a click. There may still be some latency before the tooltip is hidden when there are many other operations to perform, for example, if many layers are open and the user clicks the "next time" button.
