This card should probably be quirked to modeset=0 where it will use XAA due to only having 16MB allocated to vram, and XAA has accel disabled post 6.12.912 which should fix this. Vince, can you adjust the amount of ram allocated to the GPU in bios and see if it still happens if you increase it?

The BIOS doesn't seem to give me any options to increase the ram.

At least can you confirm if you turn off KMS (radeon.modeset=0 or nomodeset) that video plays fine in that case?

Hmm, I tried radeon.modeset=0 and I still don't get video. Maybe the embedded ATI on this motherboard just can't handle video?

Hmm, well we can send it upstream and see what they say I guess.

Forwarding this bug from Ubuntu reporter Vince Kimball:
http://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-ati/+bug/542925

[Problem]
When attempting to play mpg videos on ATI ES1000, no video or audio output is seen, and dmesg shows a repeating sequence of:

[drm:radeon_cs_ioctl] *ERROR* Invalid command stream !
[ 3208.384341] Forbidden register 0x2140 in cs at 1
(..repeated)

[Original Description]
RAM allocation to the GPU cannot be controlled via BIOS.

I also tried radeon.modeset=0 and I still don't get video.
