Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

If i right click on the top gnome panel and press add new panel no new panel come up, but it acts as if an invisible panel is on the right side.

the invisible bar on the right has no obvious way of being removed, after restarting the panel shows (though corrupted, see screenshot in comment #5) up and is removable.

Restarting helps the situation (see screenshot), it allows the panel to be removed and be used though it is corrupted.

I was able to see it and delete it after restarting gdm using:
go to TTY using F# log in and run the following command than hit F7
sudo /etc/init.d/gdm restart
it showed the panel and i was able to remove it.

I have the problem, I have to kill gnome-panel and it appears then.

Restart might work, but to restart your whole system just to add a panel? That's...ahmmm...too brutal omho. You might as well say that it's ok if you have to restart after adding a launcher to the Desktop in order to see it. :P This is obviously a bug and it happens to me too. Adding a panel creats an invisible panel. You can see that there's something because the window frames of the applications when maximized hang to it and can't go further. I like using panles and don't want to install additional docking tools for the very same thing that a simple panel can do. Will have a look at the fix that's up and running according to Burt.P. Ta, mate. :)
