Bug Description

This is about the volume slider in the volume applet in Gnome 2.28.1 on Ubuntu 9.10.
If the volume slider is on anything else but the lowest position, when click-and-slide is performed the volume is update real-time. When the volume slider is on 0 though during click-and-slide nothing happens and the mouse button must be released in order to get the sound volume updated. This makes for an inconsistent and annoying behavior.

I guess this is due to that the "mute" checkbox is not automatically unchecked when moving upwards, right?

The new volume indicator applet in Lucid does not have a mute button that is automatically turned on and does not have this behavior.

thank you for your work there, do you think you could send the change to the upstream hackers on bugzilla.gnome.org too?

This is fixed in lucid with the indicator patch. Would still be nice if you can send it to an upstream bug. Thank you!

@Martin: Even though the indicator applet does not have that problem, g-v-c is just one click away from the indicator applet, and still needs fixing.

Try it: start e g rythmbox, then open g-v-c. Slide the application volume down to zero. The mute button is then automatically checked, but it is not automatically unchecked when sliding up again.

Or did I misunderstand something?

A similar patch was accepted by upstream and made it's way into lucid (or lucid-updates).
