Some additional data.

Changing the theme from "ubuntu" to "standard" in gconf (/apps/notification-daemon/theme) has no effect. So it seems to be not theme releated.

The crash is actually a Gtk-Crtitical warning that causes the daemon to fail. I did a upload to disable this for now to avoid too many duplicates of this report.

It happens when the widget gets destroyed, I currnetly suspect a double free problem somewhere in the daemon.

Could someone explain to me why, though, when the daemon fails, it seems to slow the whole system down?

@Toby Smithe: This is a new feature in edgy, it will collect crashdump data. This collecting take time/cpu/hdd.

This should be really fixed in 0.3.5-0ubuntu3 now.
