CouchDB throws a timeout error on all connections

Bug Description

Symptoms: Files in web interface working, Contacts and Notes give 500
server error again. Also direct connections to couchdb fail. The
errors look like this to the clients:

status:500, response:
'{"error":"timeout","reason":"{gen_server,call,\\n [couch_server,\\n
{open,<<\\"users\\">>,[{user_ctx,{user_ctx,null,[<<\\"_admin\\">>]}}]}]}"}\n'

And like this in the couchdb logs:

After consulting with Damien Katz, it appears that there is a bug in
the open-dbs-async patch we use. I created an updated version of the
patch, packaged it for Hardy and Lucid, and am now testing this.

This appears to be fixed after migrating to CouchDB 1.0.2
