Problem installing Edgy on IBM thinkpad 600E

Bug Description

1. download edgy Knot 1 and burn to a cd R.
2. Then pop it into an IBM THinkpad 600E
3.it will start and you shoudl select "STart or Install"
4. wait for it to start loading
5.screen will become black with an underscore only like this: _
6.wait a while longer
7.then it starts to load hardware drivers
8.mouse aperas
9.white box apears in upper left hand corner
10ubuntu splahs starts, where it shows it loading windows manager
11. white box loads text loads
12.the error box says:

"there was an error starting the Gnome Setting Daemon
somethings such as themes, sounds, or background settings may not work correctly.

THer last error message was:

No reply withing specific time

Gnome will still try to restart restart the settings of Daemon next time you log in."

13. I see the desktop but the only thign you see is the background and a white top bar and a while lower bar.

i found out my problem was i was burning the image at too high of a speed,
for my laptop to read, i had to slow it to like 4x to burn for my old
laptop, then it worked fine.

Ok. I thought you said your CD speed fix had solved it :(

Have you tried it with the current edgy beta?

Can you login in to the command line?

Looking at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DebuggingSystemCrash there are some instructions for crashes that happen at start up.

Does this help you provide any information?

i dont get what u mean? and i said i was using kubuntu so i am not using
gnome at all its kde.

oopsy my b, it did i was getting ur emails mixed up with another problem. so
i was super confused, take back what i said, i was emailing another
caroline about something totally different and i just mixed things up. sorry
for the confusion i just cause u.

Thanks for your bug. That might be the same issue than bug #59217 which is fixed now. Could you try with a new daily CD?
