I'm experiencing the same thing in Dapper (kino 0.80). I had Kino working flawlessly with Debian Etch (Kino 0.90) -- and was able to import all types of video formats with its new transcoding support using mencoder and ffmpeg. I wish someone could figure out what's up because I would love to get this program working in Dapper and later Edgy.
