Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-media

Distro: Ubuntu Dapper 6.06
Package: gnome-media 2.14.2-0ubuntu1
Application: Volume Applet 2.14.3 using Gstreamer 0.10

Background: I have a Logitech Premium USB Headset 350 (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/GB/EN,CRID=103,CONTENTID=10013)

It includes volume and mic mute buttons in the cord. When I click the volume buttons the Gnome Volume Applet OSD appears and the bar inside it reflects the changes I am requesting with the buttons but the headset volume does not change. Opening the applet reveals that the master volume on my laptop's ICH6 on-board device is being changed rather than the volume of the USB headset. If I explicitly set the Logitech device I can set the volume by dragging the slider inside the Volume Applet but not with the buttons or the quick volume slider that appears if I click the applet icon.
