Lexmark z52 Printer prints blank pages

Bug Description

I installed the printer using the System->Administration->Printing dialog. I auto-detected the USB printer properly and used the High Quality Image (Gutenprint) (en) driver for it. When I tell to print a test page or print from any application (gedite, OpenOffice) I just get blank pages. The head does not even move bank and forth, the page just comes right out.

A test of the printer from windows on the same machine shows its working properly, so its not a printer hardware issue.

I have the same exact problem on 32 bit kubuntu dapper. Is there a workaround?
