Bug Description
Ubuntu 9.10 on a Dell Inspiron 1150 laptop. I was in Firefox, using gmail, and downloading attachments. While I was downloading one attachment, I clicked on "download" for a second attachment. My screen froze, with the cursor as a hand. The cursor would move, but not respond to clicks. I waited about 5 minutes, then powered down. On rebooting, I see the default desktop (I think), not my assigned background, and I cannot see any folders I try to navigate to. I can access most programs from/through the top menu, but anything related to navigation just shows the "working" cursor for a short time (<30"), then the cursor reverts to an arrow, and nothing shows on the desktop.
