Thanks for your bug. According to the backtrace the crash happens to taglib, reassigning. Could you describe what you were doing when the issue happened. Did you try to change the tag of a file. Does it happen every time on that one?

Changed in rhythmbox:
importance: Untriaged → Medium

Actually it's a two part crash which is random. I click on properties, an error box pops up saying Gstreamer has suffered an internal error, click on OK, properties box comes up, click on close and Rythmbox crashes. Seems to happen at random times, I can change tags on a few files, then it will crash. Wish I could provide more help.

Changed in taglib:
importance: Medium → High
status: Unconfirmed → Confirmed

For me it's even worse: Most of the times, some of the files that couldn't be saved are gone the next time I start rhythmbox. Not only from the rb library but completely. That's pretty ugly..

Rythmbox crashed on me, when changing a number of genre tags at once (approx. 20). Playback did not stop. Is actually still playing and also changed the song since. Attaching generated crash report.

As i clicked away the error message (same as mentioned above by Frank) Rhythmbox was still reacting and also seems to have done (most of) the changes.

I can confirm this bug with Ubuntu 8.04 and Rhythmbox 0.11.5 that ships with it. When I try to edit the song info (mp3s in my case) on my drive it often crashes. All of my mp3s on an NTFS (formated in WinXP) partition if that's any help.
