Bug Description

On Ubuntu 6.06 (this used to work on 5.04)
- Insert a CD in the CD drive
- Restart the computer
- Login
- The CD is mounted and shown on the desktop (as expected)
- Right-click on the CD icon on the desktop
- Click 'Eject'
- CD ejects and disappears from the desktop (as expected)
- Re-insert the CD and wait
- Nothing happens
-> In the previous version of ubuntu the CD used to be mounted
automatically, and appeared within a few seconds on the desktop.
Now this has to be done manually with 'mount /dev/cdrom'

I found the problem. When upgrading to Dapper, a new user called
haldaemon was created. However it was not part of the cdrom group, and so couldn't access /dev/cdrom. I solved the problem by typing the command:

adduser haldaemon cdrom

Now it works fine. I still think it's an upgrade bug. The haldaemon user should have been added automatically.

The hal postinst now does this unconditionally. This does not fix breezy->Dapper updates of course, but since it generally seemed to work, and we do not fix minor bugs in stable releases, I'm closing this now. Thank you!
