no sound from speakers after suspend

Bug Description

There is no sound from the speakers after I suspend my HP nx8220 laptop. There _is_ sound from the headphones if I plug them in.

I have tried fiddling with settings in the Volume Control and the "killall esd" workaround, loggin off and on but none of these actions help.
