Bug Description

Binary package hint: gparted

When recently trying to install edgy i386 on the live cd........ at the partition segment of the installation, it would not let me manually edit the partition table of my second sata drive. Both were properly detected... and in the menu it shows sda and sdb.... but when i select "manually edit" (so i can make my /home partition separate) ..... it only lets me choose sda through that little button on the top right

I confirm this bug: even though all SATA or SCSI disks are recognized by the kernel when loading edgy-beta from the desktop CD (disk devices exist and can be mounted), only the first SATA/SCSI disk (/dev/sda) can be used by gparted during installation ("manual partition editing")

I can also confirm this bug. When the partition manager starts, it recognizes my 2nd HD (which is hdb), and offers to reformat the drive. However, I already had 3 partitions on this drive (1 ntfs, 1 swap, and 1 ext3) and don't want to loose the ntfs partition. When I go to manually edit the partition table, it scans hda, and shows the 2 windows ntfs partitions, but I am unable to select hdb with the button mentioned above. I'm not sure that the fact that I already have a Dapper install on that disk is the issue. However, gparted is reporting the right type of hard drive, and not labeling it as a SCSI drive.

I have downloaded the latest ISO from the site, and installed it on the weekend. This issue was fixed for me in this build.

Since this Is reported to be working correctly now and the original bug is for Edgy which is no longer supported. I am changing the status to "Fix Released" if you believe this is in error, please update it accordingly.
