Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-screensaver

After I did an update to my edgy beta, the screen saver has gone a blank screen. When I set the theme and try to have a preview, it works fine as full screen. But, when the actual screen saver runs its all just a blank screen. I have tried almost all the themes there but nothing runs.

I got the following error in my .xsession-errors file:

Its happening only after the update (dist-upgrade) a couple of days ago. It was running very well before that and as well in Dapper drake. Is there a fix ?

The same problem for me. After upgrade from Dapper Drake to Edgy Eft (Release) instead of screen saver blank screen is shown.

I had the same problem and I solved by reinstalling the gnome-screensaver package. Although it is now solved, I think this should be corrected for the next maintenance release of edgy. Unfortunately I couldn't find any trace of this problem in the log file for helping solving this problem.

i had this happen to me as well, if you kill gnome-screensaver and rerun it then it's fixed. but it shouldn't bug up in the first place.

Umm, if you dist-upgrade, you should also reboot the computer, no? Closing the bug.

My test machine for this bug was a clean install of edgy with updates. With regular restarts... happens on the odd occation.

I have this problem too. Clean Edgy install with all updates. Right after system start screensaver (GLMatix) works fine. But after first occurrence of 'monitor sleep mode' screensaver never shows - screen just fades (as usual) and goes completely black (bug). No screensaver appears.

Temporary fix that works for me - kill gnome-screensaver and run it again.
