Bug Description

Docky 2.1.0 bzr docky r1666 ppa
Ubuntu 10.10 | Kernel version: 2.6.35.22
Mono JIT compiler version 2.6.7 (Debian 2.6.7-3ubuntu1)
xorg-server 2:1.9.0-0ubuntu7
GNOME 2.32

I began noticing this after upgrading to Maverick, with the Docky version specified above and the previous one. When Docky is set to hide (in whatever way), and when I move the mouse pointer away, I see a residual image, like a ghost, at the bottom of the screen. You can see this in the screenshot attached. Also I have set it fade on hide. I'd be happy to provide any other information regarding this issue.

Double check that your gconf key for the FadeOpacity is set to exactly 0.0, otherwise this is a dupe of another bug I cant seem to find now.

/apps/docky-2/Docky/Interface/DockPreferences/Dock1/FadeOpacity is set to 0 (an integer, if that makes any difference).

Ok that might be a problem. I pushed rev 1667 to fix the schema type (it should be float). I dont know if that fixes your problem but lets try it.

Hi. Just letting you know that after updating to rev 1667, FadeOpacity is still an int, and that the behaviour persists.

It is now a float for me. Please double check (after you have run and quit Docky at least once with the new update).

Which version are you referring to? Since reporting the bug, I have, if I remember correctly, updated thrice, and in all cases the int has remained. Currently I'm running 1672. I have not received an updated for a more recent version, assuming there is one, as of now. Once I get it, I'll report back. Thanks.

Just update to 1680. No changes to FadeOpacity. :(

I have 1691 with FadeOpacity being a float, however the issue still persists after a reboot.

MJC, same version, it's still int for me!

I'm not really a programmer, but I'm just wondering if there could something else on my side which is preventing FadeOpacity from having a float value. (r1699, and still no luck. The long description still reads "If fading when hiding, this is the opacity the dock fades to. 1 is solid, 0 is invisible.")

Hi
I have noticed the same problem as reported here.

One thing to notice is that it is a residue, not a transparent window that is left. So if whatever window that is below refresh the ghost image will be gone.

I guess this has something to do with the last frame in the hide animation, with 0 transparency does not render and thus leaves as residue from the second last frame.

Hi,

I'm running maverick 64bit and docky 2.2.0~bzr1807-0ubuntu1~10.10~dockycore1 and I still experience the problem described here. I'm using compiz in case that has any relevance.

I can confirm what Peter Hultqvist wrote, the residue image gets painted over once the region under it refreshes. Also the residue is not always left behind for some reason. Maybe in those cases the region behind gets repainted right after docky hides...

In my config the FadeOpacity is defined as float, the decimals are just not shown in the value of the key in gconf-editor.
