Bug Description

Binary package hint: kaffeine

kaffeine don't start after I updated from Dapper to Edgy Beta. I think it could be a problem from video driver so 3d acceleration with fglrx don't work too. I have installed kaffeine-xine too but not kaffeine-gstreamer because is not available for Edgy. Althought i run kaffeine from terminal... it only show as such as nothing else matters. This is the result:

jose@capricornio:~$ kaffeine
jose@capricornio:~$

it don't work, don't start for me
jose@capricornio:~$ kaffeine -v

Qt: 3.3.6
KDE: 3.5.5
Kaffeine Player: 0.8.2
jose@capricornio:~$

what would be the problem.. either kaffeine himself or fglrx driver?

I have an identical problem.

Seems it only affects one user at a time, so it can be resolved on my system by deleting ~/.kde , but that's a ridiculous solution.

I can't quite work out how to reproduce the bug - it manifests after some multiuser operation eg. adding new user, 2 users use X simultaneously, then on the next graphical login my main user can't use kaffeine.

Same symptoms as above, absolutely no feedback from the shell.

Some sort of DCOP problem?

After a failed attempt to load kaffeine, kill it using DCOP.

If unfamiliar with this, then call "kdcop" for a nice GUI, find Kaffeine in the app list, find quit function and call it.

On my system, next time you call "kaffeine" you'll be OK.

thanks for your answer. Finally i resolved it checking with another
user account whether kaffeine could run correctly. Then i remove my
account and i create again. i didn't investigate more about this so i
cannot reproduce it too. ThanksS again :)

Maybe you just need to delete .kaffeine directory with the configuration...
