Bug Description

Software that I am developing (namely schooltool) depends on a newer version of setuptools. Setuptools 0.6a9 is too old to install setuptools 0.6c3 locally thus without having root account on the machine it is very difficult to make python use setuptools installed by ez_setup.py.

Maybe it would not be very difficult to backport newer version of setuptools to dapper?

closing the Ubuntu task; if you do want to backport it, the best way is to start with the dapper packaging. please reopen the dapper-backports task, if a you have a package available for review
