Bug Description

I have an S3 Prosavage DDR video Card ( Identifier = S3 Inc. VT8375 [ProSavage8 KM266/KL266]. I am using Kubuntu Edgy 6.10 RC. Mpeg 1 video playback in kaffeine shows clear interlacing even though deinterlace is selected in the menu. (Player> Video> Deinterlace).

The same thing occurred on an s3virge and Ati 3d rage pro agp video card.
This problem also occurred in Dapper LTS.

The interlace does not seem as evident on the video "Experience ubuntu.ogg" in the examples folder but I have another problem with this video. When it is played in kaffeine the video appears to be grayscale and colour (mostly red and orange) seemed to be pulled diagonally in streaks across the grayscale video.

This does NOT occur on an Intel 810 or Ati 3d rage pro video card I have tested so it may be the Savage video card or driver.

This problem also occurred with Kubuntu Dapper LTS.

Are you still experiencing this issue? Was it related to video and not kaffeine?

I was not comfortable installing an ati driver when my video card was not made from ati.

Last time I checked (January 08) I was still experiencing the issue on Kubuntu Gutsy Gibbon with my S3 Prosavage DDR video Card. When I installed it on another computer with the intel 810 video card it played back video properly (seemingly deinterlaced). Because of this I believe the problem as video card based, not kaffeine based.

Unfortunately to say, My computer with the "S3 Prosavage DDR video Card" is currently down. (Maybe permanentely) Because of this I am no longer able to use or test Ubuntu/Kubuntu on that computer.
