Bug Description

Binary package hint: kdm

The /usr/share/apps/kdm/sessions directory does not contain a file to start the ratpoison window manager.

No, this is a bug in kdm. Window managers should put .desktop files for their sessions in /usr/share/xsessions. kdm is responsible for /usr/share/apps/kdm/sessions (or /usr/lib/kde4/share/kde4/apps/kdm/sessions/ for kdm-kde4).

Of course, ratpoison doesn't install /usr/share/xsessions/ratpoison.desktop, and that is a separate bug, upon which this one sort of depends.

Moving this one to kdm.

ratpoison isn't responsible for placing a desktop in /usr/share/apps/kdm/sessions, only in /usr/share/xsessions

Our KDM package does not look in /usr/share/apps/kdm/sessions for sessions, it looks in /usr/share/xsessions like other display managers

/usr/share/apps/kdm/sessions/*.desktop are from upstream. The Ubuntu package does not use those, but uses /usr/share/xsessions/*.desktop
