Bug Description
Banshee music source is set to ~/Music. I created a link in ~/Music to my purchased music folder so my purchased songs will appear in my Banshee library. "Update file and folder names" is disabled.
When I initially did this, Banshee did not copy songs from the purchased music folder to ~/Music. Sometimes Banshee will copy my purchased songs to the ~/Music folder and make duplicates. Then U1 starts to sync those duplicates because sync is enabled for the ~/Music folder. I think it does this whenever I buy more music from the U1MS but can't tell.
A linked folder is probably not the solution b/c some Banshee users may have "Update file and folder names" enabled. If there are differences in song meta data and our Purchased Music folder structure, Banshee will make a copy of purchased songs in ~/Music. This happened a few times. This results in duplicate songs and is very annoying.
There needs to be a good solution to adding purchased songs to your Banshee library and a linked folder in ~/Music is probably not it.
I'm not sure why you created the symlink exactly, but this seems like it is an issue in Banshee itself, rather than in the music store extension for it? I just purchased a song in banshee, and the song showed up in my music library fine. It didn't copy it anywhere or anything.
Do you have the "[] Copy files to media folders when importing" option enabled in banshee preferences? It sounds like you might, and it seems like this is a broken "feature" to me.
