I am getting this exact same issue on my Toshiba Satellite laptop running Ubuntu 11.04 64-bit. Artemis's workaround of changing the width from the default 1366 to 1360 also works for me.

Since there is no newer package still the case with Precise.
Adding --width 1360 --height 768 to options of gtk preferences doesn't change the behaviour although it works via terminal.
Unfortunately there're not that many sufficient apps to make screencasts. As alternative I've installed xvidcap.

I was just playing with the --width option with recordmydesktop in the terminal to see what maximum width I can set and not run into the issue. The highest width I found I can set without issues is 1364; meanwhile, 1365 and 1366 still have the issue.

This still happens with Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, please fix!

I have a Dell Studio 1558 with a screen resolution of 1366x768, changing the resolution to 1360x768 is a workaround.

ATI Mobility Radeon 5470 using the FGLRX driver package version "fglrx 2:8.960-0ubuntu1.1".

Another "me too" comment to this Bug. On my ASUS A53U portable PC running Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS 32 bit, and using a Radeon HD 6320 chip (default resolution 1366x768), the problem is still on , but can be workaround by using a smaller "--width 1360" setting from the command line:

recordmydesktop:
  Installed: 0.3.8.1+svn602-1ubuntu3
libtheora0:
  Installed: 1.1.1+dfsg.1-3ubuntu2

Hope it helps.
