today's update makes Ubuntu unbootable

Hello
today's update of grub makes my Ubuntu unbootable till i don't switch to console and type startx
rewriting grub from a live session dix the problem

Could you post also the regenerated grub.cfg which is working for you?
The "vt.handoff=7" boot parameter, does that change between this and the regenerated grub.cfg?
